When we remodeled our master bedroom, my daughter wanted to surprise me with a gift of some sort.  She knew I was looking for pillows for my rocking chair to match the room, but could never find the right ones for the right price.  I like low maintenance accessories and needed something washable because my babies spend a lot of lap-time in my rocker.  She couldn’t have picked a better gift.

I have been blessed with children who take after their daddy with creativity, being thrifty, and being as resourceful as possible.  So, this girl used her head and came up with some great ideas.

She sewed together material that coordinated with our room and made enough for two.  She dug out some feathered pillow stuffing that she had tucked away into the sewing closet a few years ago.  She stuck to it all day and learned how to do an invisible stitch.  She quickly had 2 beautiful pillows all ready to go and they look completely professionally made!  What began as a daunting task turned out to be a lot simpler than she expected.

Teaching our girls how to sew has been a huge answer to prayer.  We are totally self taught by trial and error, which just makes Jason and me the more prouder of them and their diligence in being creative with their hands.  This proves anyone can do this!

This girl has such a sweet spirit and loves to make others smile with her surprises.  This little sitting nook now has become a favorite spot of mine.  I certainly smile when I sit here because I am often reminded of her thoughtfulness.
