Typically I freeze my applesauce for the winter, but this year I ran out of deep freezer room for as many apples as we have. What a terrible problem to have, right? My children absolutely love applesauce. They would eat it every day if they could. Our newest little one will devour it! “Appie peese!” are the cutest words she says lately. She seriously can not get enough. There is something special about harvesting your own foods for the cold months, knowing what went into them, and the love behind what you do as a family.
Last year, we had an abundant harvest of apples as well and I believe we canned over 150 quarts. Around here, those kinds of goodies do not stay on our shelf for long! My goal is to have at least 200 quarts canned this year.
Remember to bring your family into the kitchen when you are making these creations. These will be skills and memories for them to pass on to their own families some day. I hope you find this very simple and an effective way to harvest an abundance of apples! Blessings to you.
