Jason took me out for coffee yesterday morning and as we sat by a little fire chatting about our life together, peace just filled my anxious heart.  Although the warmth of the crackling fire was cozy, it wasn’t what gave me peace of mind.

In true Jason fashion, he delivered a large dose of encouragement that gave me a peace in my spirit unexplained through words.  He knew I needed his comfort in an area of my life that had me perplexed.  Jason’s eternal perspective provides clarity when I doubt, and gives hope when I fail him.  His leadership in our marriage is invaluable to me.

We landed in Psalm 1 and the clouds separated for the sunshine to peek through.  The light exposed my anxious heart and joy reigned again.  I cracked a smile and shook my head in disbelief that God can do such amazing work just by reading His word for answers.

Anytime I feel uneasy about something, I consistently see God adjusting our lives in such a way that both Jason and I refuse to accept anything less than God’s best, to journey hand in hand, and to move forward towards the purpose He created for us.

Marriages are designed to be a sanctifying process, which produces fruit.  And fruitful marriages weather storms together.

They fight for one another.  They hold each other up, shoulder to shoulder, meeting the enemy of doubt, lies, and uncertainty with the boldness of a lion.

Fruitful marriages aren’t accidental.  They are watered, nurtured, fertilized, pruned, exposed to harshness, and given light regularly.

Fruitful marriages are cultivated and they take time.

Thank you, Jesus, for the prompt that the little distractions of this life are not important, and reminding me of what is.
