our 3 youngest boys
I had the privilege to sit with another sweet mama a few weeks ago.  She was expressing some concerns about her son’s recent choices and her heart was just broken.  As I sat with her, the Lord prompted me to paraphrase something I heard from one of my favorite pastors.

“If we can’t take credit for the great things our kids do, then we can’t take responsibility for the wrong choices our kids make either.”

You could just see her processing. My heart hurt for her.

It’s so important for believers to not only bear one another’s burdens as we are commanded, but equally, it’s vital to bring wisdom and perspective to a hurting world.

No parent is perfect. No child is perfect.

I don’t always have the perfect thing to say, but when we encourage ourselves by reading God’s word, He will give us a word to give to others at the perfect time.
