Is it worth it?
Anything that is worth doing will always be hard work!
Motherhood is difficult, but it is also rewarding.
Motherhood is emotionally taxing, your heart hurts at times, children are physically demanding, and their needs can far outweigh a 24 hour day time frame.
Motherhood entails great uncertainties, but so does life in general.
Our worth is not in how we raise them or who they become. If that was true, we wouldn’t need God.

Some are naysayers, but I choose to believe the positives outweigh any negatives.
Good and bad can run parallel, and this proves two things can be true at the same time.
Anytime I struggle, I pray for an unshakable faith in a God who loves them much more than I do, and knows how to help me along the way when I feel spent.
It’s hard to fathom that He is enough when I feel like I am not.
It’s hard to fathom that He is enough when I feel like I am not.
The reality is, I know I am not enough. She needs God more than she needs me. But I am equipped enough for the task He has put before me with whatever gifts, and talents that I have been given. That is enough to be her mother. The rest is up to God.
Part of being human is realizing that going through the motions with your child is part of the journey for both her and me. I also believe God allows us to experience life in abundance with one another. (John 10:10)
The revelations I have had about being a mother nearly 30 years later is more about the gospel than I realized. Our role provides exactly the ingredients we need for growth that is made possible through our journey of motherhood.
We are vessels that carry them just a short way through life. They will have their own journey when we drop them off at the port. They will make their own path and take on a faith of their own. I will be cheering her on all the way, continuing to point her in the right direction when she asks.
If we can keep Truth in the forefront of our mind as we live from day to day, we can capture our thoughts to make whatever we do today count for God’s glory, not our own.
If we can keep Truth in the forefront of our mind as we live from day to day, we can capture our thoughts to make whatever we do today count for God’s glory, not our own.
So, if you’re wondering if this kind of life is worth it, rest assured it is. Because anything that is worth doing will be always be hard work!
Sweet mother,
Be vigilant.
Be vigilant.
Be willing to learn.
And stay faithful.
Love to all of you diligent mamas out there. Keep that light burning bright!

*This photo was of yesterday’s outing and has nothing to do with the above random-thought post. I enjoy spending time with these lovely children God has blessed me with.
