Dried Cinnamon Apples

Our family loves apples!  We wait all year long to pick from our little orchard we planted many years ago, and when that is all picked and harvested we buy bushels and bushels of apples from an orchard down the road from us.  There have been times I can not harvest fast enough because the kids eat about as fast as we work.  It is so much fun teaching them different ways to harvest food.  Dried apples are a favorite in our home and something we really look forward to each year.  I hope they can pass on this fun little tradition to their children one day.

After we pick these beauties, we wash them, slice them in our apple peeler/corer, and sprinkle a tad bit of cinnamon onto each ring.  I place them in my dehydrator and tomorrow morning they are done.  I do this for weeks until this job is completed.  I store them in our walk-in pantry in 5 gallon gamaseal buckets here It stores nicely all winter long and they are great for busy moms looking for quick snacks that are healthy for everyone!

our 8th born - she loves to help in the kitchen
our 7th born - he has waited all year for this project
he loves making apple rings and then eating them
after dehydrating about 8 - 10 hours at 100 degrees

Happy Apple Making! We Hope You Enjoy Making These As Much As We Do!
