Without love, a home is just housing.

Love is what it takes to be tender-hearted and is shown with a warm smile.  Love is the driving force behind why we cook meals for our families, keep our home clean, and why we create ways to make it a welcoming nest.  We create that safe haven because we love the ones who enter.

Love is best when it is given freely, and when there is no personal gain.

Love happens when we sacrifice our time to serve someone else first.  Love is our motivation to place our priorities right and why we desire to make sweet memories with the ones we love.

When we love, we encourage one another.  Fathers, who love, place the proper tools in the hands of his children to help them be successful.  A loving mother will instruct her children with loving-kindness off her tongue.

Love is why we enjoy the company of others.  Love is why we take delight in giving someone a gift and why we embrace our loved ones.  Love brings joy into a relationship and is able to heal a wounded heart.

Love is a fruit of the spirit and should be something that grows and grows.

The 1 Corinthians 13 kind of love
celebrating her today
our tender-hearted girl
When we love one another with a 1 Corinthians 13 kind of love, we become a reflection of God’s love for us and can ultimately point our children (or anyone else for that matter) back to the saving grace of the Gospel.

While God is completely capable of demonstrating His love in powerful ways, most of the time it is done through other people.  God has ordained the family to be the most stable, most effective, and the most reliable place to learn and understand God’s love.  Our homes become the vessel in which we can have tangible experiences of His love.
